Pound Era Mathematics

A SCHOOL OF TOMORROW PRESENTATION

Buried on YouTube, is one of those esoteric channels that bothers itself with poetics, philosophy, mnemonics — those types of stuff. YouTube abounds with such channels. So needle in a haystack, another grain of sand on the beach.

Pound Era, in the title, does allude to Ezra Pound (as you may have suspected), an important poet of the 1900s, although a controversial one. It also alludes to a book by by that title, by one Hugh Kenner, Hugh also being friends with Bucky Fuller, who left us a philosophical work entitled Synergetics and Synergetics 2. The content of those books is what my slides mostly focus on.

To complete the circle: Fuller and Noguchi also did manage to meet up with Pound in Italy and, in Fuller’s telling, Ezra cheered up quite a bit upon hearing his public lectures. Look for that inscription.

Anyway, I go through these slides often, sounding different themes and stressing different slides each time. You should think of me as practicing, working off the slides as “sheet music” which I invite you to do as well.

Give my slides your own spin, as a teacher with your own take. I’m thinking of folk music as my model, before copyrights got into it. Thinking of Nashville, its temple to Athena, her Python.

In this version I stress some familiar themes, such as the mutual friendships and supportive relationships involved, as well as the rivalries. Synergetics was dedicated to a Euclidean, now stretching to n dimensions in some friendly-to-polytopes Hilbert Space. AI, vector based, has in turn provided tools that have furthered our prosperity, as a school. XYZ and IVM are not at war in other words; the relationship is more therapeutic and more a two way street. Talented pros will hop back and forth between both, smoothing, whereas one less talented might be unable to avoid a bumpy ride.

I’m not shy about broadcasting my biases when it comes to sharing my material, meaning in places I’ll get polemical on my material’s behalf. I engage in rhetoric in other words, as you’ll hear me acknowledge. Par for the course.

The content, though somewhat mathy, is promulgated as high school friendly (where high school repeats every 10 to 15 years or so, given even the basics change). My emphasis is more on staying flexible enough regarding one’s logical assumptions, to allow room for yet another conceptual toolkit.

Want something to follow-up with? Hungry to know more? Check out my Cultography Theory: Revectoring Psyons. That’ll help explain the Athena reference.
